Summer Time Wine Choices

Summer Time Wine Choices

If you have a favorite wine and you know you like to stick with it then this may not be for you, but I do encourage you to take a dip and see these interesting selections and the descriptions for why they are recommended. Of course, you can always drink whatever wine you want and if you have some that you enjoy during the hot days, go for it. There are some wines, however, that have qualities that work well with hot weather. These wines have a higher acidity, lower tannins, and lower alcohol contents. Some of these can also be of great value. Let’s talk about some wines you may not have heard about that fit the bill.
Lambrusco Secco is a fruity and earthy wine. Secco means dry and basically, Lambrusco is comparable to an iced black coffee but filled with booze! It has a complex aroma of hibiscus, blueberries, and sour cherries as well as rhubarb with a creamy bubble.
Blaufrankisch is fruity and smoky with a sweet, peppery, and fruit flavor. This is great paired with your summer barbeque or a camping trip.
Barbera is an earthy and spicy wine with flavors of black cherry and licorice. It has low tannins and is perfect for people who don’t love a fruit-heavy flavor.
Poulsard is fruity and earthy as well that has notes of mushrooms, raspberries, strawberries, and more! It is a light alcohol red and this can be rare to find.
Whatever your wine choices are, remember to try to think outside the box and try new things. Some of these wines are very interesting and complex and might be just what you’re looking for. Trying new things and experiencing different flavors is all part of the wine tasting experience and it’s always so nice to find a wine that pairs well with your favorite dish!
